Acer Predator Helios 300
It is a laptop primarily built for gaming, but it can run most of the applications required for graphic designing quite smoothly. This laptop comes with various models and different price tags ranging from 1400 to 2400.
It has a metal chassis with black and red accents, cuts, and tapered edges to complete that gamer look. It is not that heavy, nor is it light. It has got a bulky kind of look. You can carry it around basically anywhere.
It is a perfect budget laptop for both gaming and graphic designing thanks to its Core i7 Hexa-core processor, which gives it the power to complete many tasks efficiently. The newest models have been equipped with RTX series graphics cards enough to run demanding AAA gaming titles and carry out heavy graphic designing tasks.
It comes with a 15.6-inch 144Hz display, which is perfect for gaming in that much budget giving authentic color experience and consistent performance.
Various models have RAMs ranging from 8GB to 32GB and have solid-state drives (SSD) to save some time on your project or to put your gaming experience into another level.
Helios 300 has many ports, which include USB 2.0, USB 3.0, USB 3.1, HDMI, Ethernet, and SD card reader, which becomes handy for SD card usage.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard that we have in Acer Predator Helios 300 does not have incredible features, but it is enough for a budget laptop. The matte finish on keys and fast response are enough for accuracy and gaming without issues. One would want to use a mouse instead of its touchpad for gaming because it is not that good for gaming purposes.
There are some minor areas where Asus could have done better with this laptop. For instance, its 720p camera quality is not that great as it is grainy. Of course, it would have been better with a 1080p camera for improved video calls and live streams.
The speakers equipped in this laptop are below average as they have a meager output with a dull and hollow sound. Headphones could be used for the best sound quality while gaming or watching movies.
If you are looking for a great laptop that could handle your professional graphic designing works or your favorite AAA gaming titles while you are searching for fun, this is the go-to laptop.

MSI P65 Creator 9SF
You might think that this laptop is made for gaming, considering its powerful processor and RTX series graphic card. But I think it is more like a professional laptop made for content creators.
The unit we are reviewing has an 8-core Core i9 with an RTX 2070 graphics card, impressive 32GB RAM, 15.6 inch 4K IPS display, and 1TB NVME M.2 SSD.
This laptop is sleek and has a professional look, ideal for a content creator. It has mostly aluminum chassis, but can be fluxed quite easily by using some force. But it has already passed the MIL-STD 810G test, the military standard strength and durability test.
It roughly weighs around 2Kg, which means it is not that much light nor heavy. It comes in a beautiful grey and matte finish giving it a superb professional and classy look.
It has an optional 4K UHD display making part-time gaming and working immersive and fun. It has given 100% on Adobe RGB Color Gamut, which means more brightness, color, and contrast.
The battery life lasts almost for 8 hours, never putting a pause on your work and keep you rolling with your creativity. And it might lower down while gaming.
The 1TB solid-state drive is perfect for gaming and shaving some time from that graphic designing project that you are exporting or rendering.
The ports on side consist of 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI, an Ethernet port, and two 3mm headphones jacks.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The trackpad is large enough and silky-smooth to navigate without getting out of the rectangle. The trackpad also has a fingerprint scanner for security purposes so that your projects are secured and can be easily accessed by you only. The keyboard is also lovely to type on and has excellent travel.
Three dedicated fans and six heat pipes are equipped to keep the laptop cool while you are performing various heavy-duty tasks.
Speakers are equipped under the laptop supporting Hi-Res Audio, providing clear sound even on louder volumes. The front cam is 720p, which is ok for video calls and other stuff.
It is overall, a good laptop for your everyday chores.

Razer blade 15 Studio Edition
You might want to check this laptop if you are a professional graphic designer and have a craze for gaming.
It has Core i7 9th generation processor with six cores, 32GB RAM, and 1TB NVME SSD with the latest Quadro RTX 5000 16GB VRAM graphics card Nvidia which is considered the best mobile graphic cards out the in the market for now.
Talking about the design and shape, it comes in Mercury White only. Razer is known for making gaming related tech, but they have given this laptop a more professional look instead of a typical gaming look. The chassis is made of aluminum, not too heavy to carry nor too light. The Razer logo on the back lid is not the traditional gaming logo with green color; instead, it’s a more classy single color logo.
15 inches 4K OLED touch screen is one of the critical features of this laptop. But the results are somewhat disappointing. The black is not that deep black as you would expect from a 4K screen. You would have to be in a darker place to get a full 4K authentic color experience.
Keyboard and trackpad:
The keyboard looks excellent with RGB lightning for every separate key. It feels nice to type on it as the keys have a proper bleed. The keys are kind of small, but one can easily adjust after a short duration. The trackpad is excellent silky-smooth to work with Windows gestures enabled on it, making it fun to use, but I would still prefer a mouse instead of the trackpad.
The Dolby Atmos speakers equipped in this laptop gives crystal clear sound with good bass. I would still prefer to use headphones for gaming or watching movies.
This laptop offers various ports, including 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, 3.5mm headphone jacks, USB type C, Thunderbolt 3, an HDMI port, a Mini-Display 1.4 port, and nonetheless an SD card slot.
For better connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 6 for reliable internet connection and good range and a Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting with Bluetooth devices.
Now let’s talk about the GPU. The Quadro RTX 5000 has way more VRAM than an ordinary user may want. But it is suitable for rendering massive HD videos and helps in saving more time during editing.
The battery life is quite decent and can run up to 7 to 8 hours pretty efficiently while you are working.
If you have the budget and want to buy a good laptop for heavy rendering and graphic works, and a bit of gaming, you should keep an eye on this laptop.

MSI GV62 8RD-200
It is another laptop that packs a serious punch for gamers. And of course, it will help the graphic designer inside you to unleash too.
The chassis is made from matte black plastic mostly. It looks more thin and sleek, giving a classy gaming look. It is very thin compared to other laptops, and they have removed the optical drive, which is a negative point. The overall design looks great, easy to handle, not too heavy nor light, and can be easily carried around.
It has a Hexa-core 8th Gen Core i5-8300H’ Coffee Lake’ processor. The graphics card we have is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM, enough to handle any gaming title on medium or high settings or graphic designing-related work is kind of ok in this budget. We got an Optane Memory Module instead of an SSD, but it is not a big deal-breaker. It has 16GB Optane memory with 1TB SSD.
We have a Full HD 15-inch display screen enough for gaming and graphic design purposes. They have used in-plane switching technology, which gives excellent viewing angles for viewers.
Keyboard and trackpad:
They have given us a SteelSeries keyboard, which is always lovely to type on and has an excellent travel while typing fast or during intense gaming. The trackpad is also smooth to interact with, and they have click functions underneath the trackpad.
Ports: The ports they have included are USB 3.0 type-C, Ethernet port, SD card slot, two USB 3.1 slots, audio jacks, and a mini-display port for presentation purposes.
The audio is also good having two subwoofers that provide excellent and clear sound while gaming and watching other stuff.
The battery life is short, which you can expect from a gaming laptop. It can last almost 4 hours when you are working or gaming. So you might have to keep the charger ready to plug it in.
Overall, it is an excellent laptop for gaming and graphic design in a low budget, which can help you carry out your tasks.
- Processor: 8th Gen Core i5-8300H’ Coffee Lake
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB GDDR5 VRAM

While choosing a laptop for both gaming and graphic designing, one must keep in mind that everything should be kept in mind while buying it, like the processor, RAM, VRAM, and all other factors. If a laptop is weak in these factors, it is probably a good idea to avoid it and keep looking for another one based on your budget and interest. It is the buyer’s choice which matters the most.
